The Norwegian shipping association, with over 40 member companies, has signed on to IMPA ACT in an effort to help the shipping industry move towards compliance with international endorsed standards of responsible supply chain management and corporate social responsibility.
Incentra has taken two significant steps in the CSR work of the company:
- Incentra has signed on to IMPA ACT programme
- Incentra has entered an MOU with IMPA ACT to jointly work to implement and further develop the IMPA ACT programme.
IMPA ACT is a program in the International Marine Purchasing organization (IMPA). IMPA ACT is an effort to move the shipping industry towards better standards and ensure compliance with international endorsed standards of responsible supply chain management (RSCM) and corporate social responsibility(CSR).
There are several reasons for Incentra to join and work with IMPA ACT:
- Incentra has for several years focused on CSR and now decides that it is the time to take this work one step further. The objective is to maintain a position in the forefront together with its members and suppliers.
- IMPA ACT is the right for Incentra because it is a well-founded programme which also represent an International standard.
The announcement was made during this year’s IMPA London, an annual conference and exhibition event for marine purchasing and supply chain professionals.
Managing Director of Incentra Bjørn Bergesen said now was the perfect time to come on board.
«We are very happy to have signed up today,» he said at the event. «It has been a fairly long process. We have been working for more than five years and our members have done extensive work. This is a natural extension of the activities we do on behalf of our members and their suppliers. CSR is the next step to take.»
«Why IMPA ACT? The international standard idea is important to us and we are a small organisation so we need to join and work together. We are now ready to embark on our journey.»
Incentra will now work with IMPA ACT and its member companies to become sustainability frontrunners and work towards compliance with internationally endorsed standards.
